Plum Creek Cellars 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon, Colorado

Plum Creek is a rockin’ winery in the far west. This was our final visit during a trip to Colorado last year and although our visit was brief, we came away impressed with the range and quality of their wines. We picked up the ‘08 Cabernet to bring home after it tickled our palate in the tasting room.
Colorado is earning praise for its wines. The climate has proven ideal for growing high altitude grapes and reds like Cabernet Sauvignon and
Cab Franc really shine. Plum Creek is one of the oldest wineries in the state.
A rush of raspberry and cherry flavors greets the palate. Tannins are light but present, lending an elegant structure. The wine, dry as a desert breeze, wraps up with a light, lingering finish.
There is promise in the bottle, but this wasn’t a “knock your socks off” Cabernet experience. An all-round pleasant bottle, it retails for about $17.
