Two Rivers Chateau Deux Fleuves Vineyards 2008 Vintner’s Blend

Somehow we missed the Two Rivers Winery when we made our last trip to Colorado. We visited about a dozen wineries and came away impressed with the quality of the high desert vino.
All was not lost, however, while we were waiting in the airport at Grand Junction, we noticed a dining area and they had a display of Colorado wines, including this beauty. We soon were packing it into our carryon luggage.
The winery was built from the ground up in 1999 outside of Grand Junction and focuses on just six wine varieties: Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Riesling, Syrah and Port. The Vintner’s Blend is 60% Syrah and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. That’s a dynamite combination.
Dark red fruit flavors ripple through this wine, which has a solid structure of tannins without hitting you with an oaken club. My first reaction was that this wine has wonderful balance. You enjoy the deep, richness of blackberry and briar. After your sip, it lingers still.
This is Colorado cool that you can enjoy in your glass.
