Alderbrook 2004 Old Vines Zinfandel, Dry Creek Valley

This bottle was uncorked after the Ohio State Buckeyes were bumped off by Kansas in their Final Four battle. Glorious T and Ace of Bass were hosts of the get-together and knew some vino was required to help smooth over the defeat.

Alderbrook Vineyards and Winery is located in Sonoma County at the southernmost tip of Dry Creek Valley, just a short distance from another famous California wine region, the Russian River Valley. This is considered one of the best locations in the region and allows extra hang time for the grapes. That means rich, full-bodied flavor.

Juicy with long legs, this wine has rich, black fruit with a smattering of pepper. This is a crowd pleasing red with soft tannins.

Although the Bucks faltered down the stretch, this vino had a strong and tasty finish. The price is much less than a Final Four ticket too, originally priced at about $20, it can be found on clearance for about half that. A fine wine at a great price.
